 Not every Valentine is a saint . . .

Corruption. Greed. Illicit sex. Murder. Private investigator Valentine Shepherd thinks she's seen it all, and her strange ability to glimpse the future gives her an edge no one else in the world has. But when her fiancé is killed trying to exonerate his client, billionaire Max Carressa, Val makes it her personal mission to bring the people responsible to justice, no matter the cost. Convinced the two men are linked by more than attorney-client privilege, she enlists Max's help in her investigation and gets more than she bargained for.

Private Investigator Valentine Shepherd has got skill, (ex-Army Sergeant) brains, and oh, she can see the future.  Her ability to see others’ emanate demise has haunted her since she hit puberty, and with the help of her best friend Stacy she has honed in on that gift.  When her fiance Robby is mowed down with a car right in front of her own eyes, she is on a mission for VENGEANCE!

Robby and Valentine were a team to be reckoned with, until that faithful day Robby lost his life while in route to meet an informant.  Robby was a lawyer representing a rich bachelor charged with murdering his own father, Lester Carressa.  Valentine’s first order of business on her new mission, find out what the fuck this guy Chet, (informant) knows.  That of course leads her to Max Carressa, Lester’s accused son.  She never actually met Max until after Robby’s death, and had no idea how earth shattering handsome and tempting to the senses he was.  The heat that radiated off of him when she stood close to him was unbearable for Valentine both emotionally and physically.  These two mis-matched pair team up to uncover the truth both for different reasons.  When the heat is turned on by the officials, there is no denying Valentine and Robby were brought together by fate.

Valentine’s character was unique, I have never read about a character having such an unusual way of tapping their ability like Valentine and if I told you how, I don’t think you would believe me!  LOL!  She chose to use her gift for good by becoming a P.I. after leaving the Army, which really suited her well.  With her best friend by her side in (personal and business), along with a lawyer boyfriend, they made a sweet Scooby gang.  Robby made his exit early on so his character didn’t leave me with much to get attached to, but I felt the pain through Valentine.  Max was full of surprises!  I was cautious with him at first but as soon as I got to know him, I knew he was a good guy.  The story is a paranormal thriller that lived up to that title all the way to the end.  I can’t tell you how shocked I was at various points in the book by an unexpected twist, or how I laughed my ass off when Georgie shit his pants, literally!  This story is straight up television material that I would definitely watch.  The one moment that brought me back to my reality was the Soundgarden reference.  I have always been a big fan of the band and Chris since the 1990‘s and Chris’ death is and forever will be felt deeply in my soul.  Next book on my tbr...Retribution, when...now.  Need the link to one click this bad girl, scroll baby, scroll.
