Will the training Ivy received in her father's court be enough to save her city, or will Harborsmouth be forced to kneel before the Lord of the Hunt? When an ally is bitten by one of The Wild Hunt's hounds, Ivy must face the possibility that winning this battle may mean killing the one person she has come to love most.

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Mystery, Supernatural Suspense

Ivy Granger has returned from the journey of a lifetime only to be faced with a battle that will test her skills and her new found magical abilities.  With her boyfriend Kef and best friend Jinx by her side, will Ivy win the fight over evil or will evil take its toll?

Ivy and the gang have come full circle now with fighting battles, winning in love, friendship and respect but they have also gained more to lose.  When Ivy returns after discovering who she really is, she now faces the challenge of controlling that power yet still keeping her loved ones safe.  When the hounds come howling, Ivy gathers the troops and prepares for an epic battle, and in the process shit goes wrong, very wrong.  Ivy is a born leader, she knows just how to call the shots when the chips are down like a true leader.  The story, the battle only strengthens the bonds and seals an emotional attachment for the reader.  How could you not love Sparky, the demon she has adopted, or Kef, the Kelpie King boyfriend who never judges her but just loves her and Sparky.  It has been my pure pleasure to read as Ivy comes into a wonderful and powerful leader as well as a strong, brave woman.  The ending left me with questions, but ones that show how fascinated I am with Ivy’s life and where it will go from here.

Narrators Review

Narrated by Melanie A. Mason and Anthony A. Bowlin.  Both Mason and Bowlin have done a wonderful job with their narration.  The sound quality was excellent, the tone was pleasant to my ears, and the emotion/acting was most entertaining!  I can honestly say that listening to this duo was a treat, and made the story come alive.  Thank you for a job well done.

 Not every Valentine is a saint . . .

Corruption. Greed. Illicit sex. Murder. Private investigator Valentine Shepherd thinks she's seen it all, and her strange ability to glimpse the future gives her an edge no one else in the world has. But when her fiancé is killed trying to exonerate his client, billionaire Max Carressa, Val makes it her personal mission to bring the people responsible to justice, no matter the cost. Convinced the two men are linked by more than attorney-client privilege, she enlists Max's help in her investigation and gets more than she bargained for.

Private Investigator Valentine Shepherd has got skill, (ex-Army Sergeant) brains, and oh, she can see the future.  Her ability to see others’ emanate demise has haunted her since she hit puberty, and with the help of her best friend Stacy she has honed in on that gift.  When her fiance Robby is mowed down with a car right in front of her own eyes, she is on a mission for VENGEANCE!

Robby and Valentine were a team to be reckoned with, until that faithful day Robby lost his life while in route to meet an informant.  Robby was a lawyer representing a rich bachelor charged with murdering his own father, Lester Carressa.  Valentine’s first order of business on her new mission, find out what the fuck this guy Chet, (informant) knows.  That of course leads her to Max Carressa, Lester’s accused son.  She never actually met Max until after Robby’s death, and had no idea how earth shattering handsome and tempting to the senses he was.  The heat that radiated off of him when she stood close to him was unbearable for Valentine both emotionally and physically.  These two mis-matched pair team up to uncover the truth both for different reasons.  When the heat is turned on by the officials, there is no denying Valentine and Robby were brought together by fate.

Valentine’s character was unique, I have never read about a character having such an unusual way of tapping their ability like Valentine and if I told you how, I don’t think you would believe me!  LOL!  She chose to use her gift for good by becoming a P.I. after leaving the Army, which really suited her well.  With her best friend by her side in (personal and business), along with a lawyer boyfriend, they made a sweet Scooby gang.  Robby made his exit early on so his character didn’t leave me with much to get attached to, but I felt the pain through Valentine.  Max was full of surprises!  I was cautious with him at first but as soon as I got to know him, I knew he was a good guy.  The story is a paranormal thriller that lived up to that title all the way to the end.  I can’t tell you how shocked I was at various points in the book by an unexpected twist, or how I laughed my ass off when Georgie shit his pants, literally!  This story is straight up television material that I would definitely watch.  The one moment that brought me back to my reality was the Soundgarden reference.  I have always been a big fan of the band and Chris since the 1990‘s and Chris’ death is and forever will be felt deeply in my soul.  Next book on my tbr...Retribution,  Need the link to one click this bad girl, scroll baby, scroll.

Audiobook Review On A Discovery Of Witches

Rated it

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library. Diana has stumbled upon a coveted treasure lost for centuries-and she is the only creature who can break its spell.

Diana Bishop is a young, smart scholar right out of Oxford and she’s also a descendant of a very long and powerful line of witches.  Throughout the course of her life, she has denied her witchy side, striving to be “normal”.  The Bishop Clan is well known throughout the supernatural world, and the name carries a stigma that Diana will never be able to live down.  When she stumbles upon a bewitched manuscript that has been in hiding for over a hundred years, demons, witches and vampires all begin to stalk Diana while waiting for her to unlock the mother of all secrets.  Can she survive the witch hunt in time to find out her own truth?

Diana Bishop may be a powerful witch, but she has no idea how to use her magic willingly, nor does she know how to control it.  Raised by her aunt after her parents death at a young age, she never fully committed to learn her craft when her young aunts tried to teach her.  When she meets vampire Matthew Clairmont, he opens up her mind and heart, something her family has never been able to do.  During the course of the mysterious manuscript hunting, Matthew becomes enthralled with Diana, even possessive to the point that others begin to see their relationship as a threat.  During this journey, Diana learns not only about her magic, but about the vampires and demons, a subject that isn’t easily talked about amongst the outsiders.  As their relationship grows into a budding romance, Matthew and Diana face life threatening actions against others, in a race to unlock the secrets of the alchemy manuscript.

Dianas' character was a refreshing change from the current mold of heroines that seem to be the “norm”.  She is smart, like uber nerd smart when it came to her academic knowledge.  She is confident in herself but not to the point she was cocky or snarky.  When danger knocked on her door, she faced it, scared as hell but she faced it.  She had no idea how to fight, nor did she know how to use her magic to protect herself, so it was like you or I facing down a supernatural being, not dumb but brave.  Matthew is a very old vampire that was on the same page as Diana as far as being into research and conducting studies.  She is his nerd equal, and along with her beauty and magics, she sucked him right in.  Matthew is very secretive, controlled, and guarded but once he realized he was in love with Diana, he showed a really soft and romantic side to himself that made me melt in my chair.  I truly loved the chemistry between Matthew and Diana, and I think the two can easily rule the world.

The world building was fantastic!  I loved the magic system, it was unlike any I have encountered so far.  The Bishop house, the ghosts, the way the house created rooms, and also hid things was very entertaining.  Matthew’s character development, his extremely long past, enriched my outlook of him tremendously.  His pain, loss, family and obligations molded him into a brilliant and beautiful man.  The story from beginning to end is captivating!  The book flows as if the author was born to write it, with such perfection in all aspects of the story.  I can’t get enough of this tale, and I’m hungry for more!

Narrator Review

Jennifer Ikeda narrates this wonderful fantasy romance novel.  This is my first time listening to Jennifer, and OMG she is AMAZING!  Her voice just put me in a trance and I had a hard time pausing the book!  Her tone, her accents, her interpretations of each character was spot on.  The sound quality was professional, sharp and clear.  Jennifer now has a new stalker fan to watch out for!  I rate Jennifer’s narration 5 Fangs.

I’m Griffin Reed—cutthroat entrepreneur and competitive bastard. Trust is a four-letter word and everyone is disposable…except Britta Stone. Three years ago, she was my everything before I stupidly threw her away. I thought I’d paid for my sin in misery—until I learned we have a son. Finding out she’s engaged to a bore who’s rushing her to the altar pisses me off even more. I intend to win her back and raise our boy. I’ll have to get ruthless, of course. Luckily, that’s one of my most singular talents. Sixty days. That’s what I’m asking the gritty, independent single mother to give me—twenty-four/seven. Under my roof. And if I have my way, in my bed. Britta says she wants nothing to do with me. But her body language and passionate kisses make her a liar. Now all I have to do is coax her into surrendering to the old magic between us. Once I have her right where I want her, I’ll do whatever it takes to prove I more than need her. This book is the second in the More Than Words series. The books are companions, not serials, meaning that backstory, secondary characters, and other elements will be easier to relate to if you read the installments in order, but the main romance of each book is a stand-alone. This book contains lines that may make you laugh, events that may make you cry, and scenes that will probably have you squirming in your seat. Don’t worry about cliffhangers. HEA guaranteed! (Does not contain elements of BDSM or romantic suspense.)

Since the night of her brutal attack and unwilling transformation to vampire, Merit’s stood as Sentinel and protector of Chicago’s Cadogan House. She's saved the Windy City from the forces of darkness time and again with her liege and lover, Ethan Sullivan, by her side.

When the House is infiltrated and Merit is attacked by a vampire seemingly under the sway of dark magic, Merit and Ethan realize the danger is closer than they could have ever imagined. As a malign sorcery spreads throughout the city, Merit must go to war against supernatural powers beyond her comprehension. It’s her last chance to save everything—and everyone—she loves.

“Forever.” Enter the final chapter to the epic journey we have been taken on with The Chicagoland Vampires...

When we left Ethan and Merit, they were preparing for their nuptials and forever loving one another. The night before the big “night” Merit is attacked by a crazed vampire in her own home. This is no ordinary or small incident, and it opens up an old problem to the soon to be newlyweds. Instead of happily ever after, Ethan and Merit are about to face a big fight that is threatening to destroy Chicago and all it's residents. Magic is a fickle bitch and Mallory, along with her cute as ever hubby Catcher, come charging in for the rescue. What better way to close out this series than to have Merit fight side by side with her witch bestie Mallory? As Cadogan House prepares for battle, they are pleasantly surprised who comes out of the wood work to help. All the while, Ethan and Merit struggle with Gabriel's vision of them baring a child. Without a gleam of hope of that ever happening, they must face the reality that the prophecy Gabriel once told them would never come to pass, and that they may not survive this new threat.

Coming in knowing this was going to be the last book, every sentimental scene I read had me in tears. Sharing the special moments between friends, and lovers, ones that I will never read about anymore felt like home but had me on edge knowing we were going to part ways. The story line and plot were well done with wrapping up the series, the ending fell flat for me as far the battle. The build up to the challenge was so gripping but then it just ended with a poof instead of a BANG! But I do have to say the epilogue was tremendously adorable and satisfying, which may have made up for the slightly disappointing ending.

Audiobook Review On Blood War, Blood Destiny #8

Rated it

Death has come to Le-Ath Veronis. A would-be assassin, aiming at Lissa, kills someone close to her instead. A price has been placed on Lissa's head by Black Mist, an assassin's guild who have been paid by a reassembled Solar Red. Throw in a spin-off religion, betrayal, a misguided kidnapping and the Five-Year Conclave for the Reth Alliance, and you have the seeds of war.

Queen Lissa is in for a bloody and emotional war, is she prepared?

Situations have been building up to an impeding war, and something more with Lissa, and now the other shoe has finally dropped. With so much conflict spanning over many different planets, how is Lissa supposed to keep order?! Her power is mighty but she is only one, the one that was meant to calm all the chaos...but how?

From the moment we found out Lissa was more than a vampire and had a seriously outrageous destiny, I knew nothing but trouble was coming. From the time Lissa was born she has had nothing but heart ache, pain and suffering at the hands of “loved ones”, even now, as Queen, she is still forced to eat shit. I've had to suffer in silence over the injustice that has befallen my friend Lissa over the eight books in this series so far and my heart has just about given up on hope. Lissa's father is at the heart of all her woes, and he is on everyone's shit list now a days. When Lissa finally reaches that emotional point of despair, that is when she will discover and unleash the ultimate power she's been capable of, and that is when all the wrongs will be righted, or she'll just say fuck it and be gone! Either way, look out enemies of my enemy.

The upcoming war, and Lissa's future has me on pins and needles, and if it wasn't for life getting in the way, I would be binge listening to the very last book. I can't even begin to imagine how Lissa's story will end, but man ol' man, if I know this author, it will be a doozie! Strap on your big girl panties, cause heads will roll!

Narrator Review

Traci Odom continues as the narrator for the Blood Destiny Series, and I am still in love with her :) She is the most amazing and talented performer that I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to. There are narrators then there are story tellers, and Traci will just blow you away with the way she delivers this story of a lifetime to you.

Have you ever fallen in love with a book boyfriend?
Naomi Douglas did.
From the moment Naomi met Joe, she claimed him as her own.
Depressed and lonely, Naomi’s fascination with Joe quickly turns to obsession.

Naomi Douglas lives a sad and mundane life, divorced, distant from her parents and her only sibling lives in another country. She has no one but the books she edits for a living, and Joseph her fictional boyfriend. As Naomi continues to get deeper into this author's world, Joe is becoming more and more real to her. Is she going crazy or has Naomi stumbled onto something magical and beyond her wildest dreams?

Naomi has fallen into a fantasy trap that we all have from time to time, wishing that the man in a romance novel we were reading was real. They are always written to fit the heroine like a glove. They know just what to say, when to say it, and are unbelievably gorgeous. But Naomi's broken and lonely heart allows her imagination to take it further than ever before. She begins re-writing another authors work for her own personal happiness. She writes herself in as the heroine, and Joe is her lover. At first she tells herself that it's just to help her start writing her own work again, but we all know that's not what's going on here. When her desires begin to collide with reality, that is when the real fun begins.

Naomi is a truly relateable character. I can't tell you how many book boyfriends I have fantasized about, and wished that they were real, or that they could be real. In my case that would be never because they are always vampires or shifters, lol. At times I felt like I was walking in Naomi's shoes! The similarities were uncanny, which made parts of the book hard for me to read. Joe's character was designed to be ideal and he was. He could melt the panties off of any woman! The conflict between Naomi and her mother and sister were spot on for how most mothers and daughters get along, that's for sure. Each character involved played a crucial role for Naomi's story and they played them very well.

The story was fantastic! It was original, and God help me it was too close for comfort at times for me. Sometimes I did feel like the author had jumped into my brain and plucked out my deepest darkest desires. The only “spoiler” I will reveal is that it has a cliffhanger. I loath cliffhangers, but if I didn't then that would mean I didn't enjoy the book, and I loved it!
