The pack is coming together, but one wolf would rather be alone with his demons than united as a team. In the second installment in the Olento Research series, Connor runs from the Lucidite Institute and his pack, fearful of what the wolf will make him do. All of the men describe feeling the impulses, thedesires that are unquenchable, coursing through them. But Connor knows he has a lesser chance of resisting those impulses due to his background. And after what he almost did to Adelaide, he can't risks it happening again.

The Lucidites have one hell of a job on their hands with the wolf pack they have been trying to round up.  Adelaid and Roxy have been working together to gather the entire pack that have escaped the evil doers that created them before they hurt innocent people.  After capturing a few of the crew, Mika the mastermind behind the wolves, has created a "super wolf" to track the escapees down and bring them back.  Connor fled the Lucidites in fear of hurting Adelaid, and all hell breaks loose with Adelaid when her father's book goes missing.  Where is Connor?  Where is Ren's book?  And why aren't we trying to find the guys that created this nightmare?

Mika, (the evil mastermind behind the wolves) is at it again.  He has turned his loyal assistant into a "super wolf" in order to track the escaped wolves down and bring them in.  Adelaid and the gang are searching for Connor, and when they find him he is on the brink of death.  Roxy is being Rox and toying with Zefer's emotions.  Then there is the case of the missing book, that Adelaid feels totally lost without because it is the closest thing she has to her father.  The feelings I see developing between Connor and Adelaid gives me hope for the spunky red head.  She needs someone to show her how to love, how to be a real human being.  With her unique abilities, she was never able to get close to men before, and now she may have met her match.  Will Connor survive long enough for Adelaid to find true love?  Well with the constant danger they are always in, who knows!  Zefer just may make an honest woman out of Roxy...well crazier things have happened, lol.  What I'm mainly interested in is how they are going to shut the guys down that stole the Lucidites research to begin with!  They need to be the priority, not the wolves because as long as they are around, they will just keep creating these un-natural creatures from unwilling people.  I hope we have a break through in the next book in this regard.  Otherwise this was another outstanding read, and great sequel to the first book!

Narrator Review

Elizabeth Klett returns to voice Adelaid and the gang.  She continues to do a fabulous job telling the story as well as draw me into their world.  As long as Elizabeth is around,  I will continue to follow.  5 Fang rating for the narrator!

The Dead Don’t Always Rest in Peace
Jason Crandall, recently widowed, is left to raise his young daughter and rebellious teenage son on his own - and the old Victorian in Shadow Springs seems like the perfect place for them to start over. But the cracks in Jason’s new world begin to show when he meets Savannah Sturgess, a beautiful socialite who has half the men in town dancing on tangled strings.

When she goes missing, secrets begin to surface, and Jason becomes ensnared in a dangerous web that leads to murder. But who has the answers that will prove his innocence? The jealous husband who’s hell-bent on destroying him? The local sheriff with an incriminating secret? The blind old woman in the house next door who seems to watch him from the windows? Or perhaps the answers lie in the haunting visions and dreams that have recently begun to consume him.

Or maybe, Savannah herself is trying to tell him that things aren’t always as they seem - and that sometimes, the dead don’t rest in peace.

Praise for Alistair Cross:

"Alistair Cross’s THE ANGEL ALEJANDRO is an intriguing tale that pits evil against good and keeps the reader on edge with surprising shifts and changes."

- New York Times Bestseller, Dianna Love
“Put Bram Stoker in a giant cocktail shaker, add a pinch of Laurell K. Hamilton, a shot of John Carpenter, and a healthy jigger of absinthe, and you’ll end up with Alistair Cross’s modern Gothic chiller, “The Crimson Corset” - a deliciously terrifying tale that will sink its teeth into you from page one.”

- Jay Bonansinga, New York Times Bestselling author of THE WALKING DEAD: INVASION and LUCID

“The Angel Alejandro is as lush and ethereal as it is visceral and unholy. A demonic horde seeks to swallow up the citizens of Prominence made vulnerable by their weaknesses. Those who take a stand against the evil are emotionally damaged as well; particularly a sheriff who battles his personal demons in a bottle. The author had me rooting for each of them in spite of, or maybe because of their flaws. With masterful pacing, Cross brings a small mystery to a raging boil that threatens every soul in Prominence. His exquisite prose drew me into the story as if I were living it. Highly recommended.”

Book Review:  Retribution, (Valentine Shepherd #2)

By Shana Figueroa

**Book provided by the author for an honest review**

Rated it

Private investigator Valentine Shepherd plays by one set of rules: hers. She's haunted by dark, cryptic visions of the future, not to mention an aching hole in her chest where her heart---and the love of her life, Max Carressa---used to be. But when Val's search for a missing woman leads to her own night of terror, the only thing on Val's mind is revenge.

In the months since Val walked away from their relationship, Max has tried to move on. Yet, when she asks for his help tracking down her attacker, he knows resistance is futile; he'll do anything for Val. Even sacrifice himself to save her.

Valentine Shepherd is on the move again.  Since breaking off her relationship with the gorgeous billionaire Max Carressa, she has gone on a downward spiral straight to hell.  Drinking herself into a stupor to relieve the heartbreak, she throws herself into her work and uncovers a secret society of the super rich whom partake in disgusting acts and falls knee deep into a dark and scary as shit rabbit hole.  Can Val change her future and come out the other side alive, or will she literally end up in her own worst vision?!

The story picks up with some time passing since Val broke up with Max.  Her drinking habit has increased to a dangerous level and she has fallen into bed with her enemy Sten to "relieve the pain".  During her time spent with the shit bag, Max has gotten engaged to a high society princess and has appeared to gotten over Valentine.  When Val is hired by a frantic mother to find her missing daughter, she gleams the girls future to only end in her death.  Determined as hell to save her, she goes undercover to find out the girl was a "call girl" and disappeared after attending a Blue Serpent party.  While pushing the limits to find out more, Valentine herself is thrown into the same nightmare the missing girl has been in and now suffers serious repercussions for it.  The only person she believes can help her is none other than Max, and because he never got over Val he jumps at the chance to be near her once more.  Once the duo begin prodding into the unknown, the conspiracies, torture, and murders begin.  Val's missing persons case turns into so much more than she bargained for and had me on the edge of my seat with each plot twist!

Valentine and Max were meant to be together in my eyes.  They have this unbelievable bond that yanks the on your heart strings, and with their ability to see the future they should be a force to be wreckened with!  Despite their powers, the "Alpha" still tries to control their fate.  With secret agents working against the couple I'm not sure how they've not ended up dead already, I mean wow!  The shit these two have been through both together and separately, it's amazing they are still in one piece!  Sten's return into Val's life was unexpected and the fact that he appears to act like he genuinely cares for her turns me from a hater of the piece of shit, (cause of what he did in book 1) to actually liking him now, (which really pisses me off!)  I fucking "like" Sten now...damn it!  He helps Val hone in on her visions, and rocks her world in bed, along with seeking revenge for her after he finds out what happen to her.  Damn, shit, fuck!  I LOVED hating him!  But alas, I have a new person to hate now, haha!  I will not reveal the knew bad person, but lets just say you will be shocked as hell!  And I am so torn right now about whether this book is better than the last.  Both books blew me away, but this one seemed much more intense...maybe because I've bonded with Val and Max, maybe because of how this investigation turns out, idk.  All I know is this is a 5 Fang story through and through.  From beginning to end I was literally glued to the story.  This part of the story does have a happy ending, but I know not for long.  We will see how long that happily ever after part plays out in the next book Reckoning.  I whole heartedly recommend this book to any paranormal romance suspense thriller lover!

Audiobook Review On Counterbalance

**Audiobook provided by the author for an honest review**

Rated it

She’s a beauty, but he’s just a geek.

The world might think billionaire Xavier Gaines has it all, but he’s got a big problem. His successful software company is about to sign a government contract that’ll land him smack in the glare of the public limelight, and his lifelong battle with social anxiety has marked him as a cold, uncaring bastard in the eyes of the press. To dispel the unflattering image, he needs help, and there’s only one person he trusts with the job—Peyton Smoke. Gorgeous, kind, and funny, she agrees to be his media relations director and soon embeds herself so deeply in his life, his world will crumble if anything upsets the balance. He cannot screw up their solid unit. No matter how achingly he desires her. Yet, how is he supposed to resist when she tugs emotions from him he didn’t think he was capable of experiencing? Especially since it appears he’s not the only one fighting their undeniable attraction.

Xavier Gaines is a geek extraordinaire and self made billionaire of a software company, and the dude can't get a woman!  Well he can have any "woman" he wants but can't get one that is not just after him for his fortune.  His company is about to go all military contract and he needs a reputation make-over, and who better to do that than his long time high school buddy Peyton Smoke.  Peyton has the skills in PR to help X in more than one way but unbeknown to her, she's not only turning his business reputation around, she is landing right smack in the middle of the greatest love story ever told!  Can Peyton melt his hard drive?  Can Xavier make Peyton see she is worth all the love he has to give her?

This story starts out innocent enough, with Xavier needing a media relations guru to turn his reputation around, but when he has a meeting with Peyton after not seeing her for years, he is immediately attracted to her.  Not knowing how to act, he shows no confidence in a social setting and Peyton has no choice but to help her friend who is obviously in desperate need.  Peyton hits the ground running and turns the place upside down (but in a good way), and has X on the right track very quickly, all the while during a two year span the two get closer and closer.  The attraction is there, and as days, weeks, and months go by they (meaning X), find it more and more difficult to keep things professional.
Xavier's character was very believable and relate-able to the generation, meaning geek= no social life, computer gamer, and genius.  I felt for him up to a point.  His brains and money commanded respect, but without a personality, or social skills he was still that shy nerdy guy with no friends.  He was very close with his parents, and did treat everyone professionally, he just didn't know how to be social.  I liked him very much, how could you not?  Peyton was a different story.  She lost her parents at a young age, lost her brother in the military, and lost her finance as well.  With that kind of loss and heart break it was easy to see why she was scared of love.  The love story that developed between the two over two years was refreshing.  Their friendship grew from high school into adulthood as well as their romantic feelings for one another.  I truly enjoyed the journey they were on, and was comforted by the fact that the author didn't feel the need to add drama, or violence into the mix in order to enhance the story.  Just a good ol' fashion love story here folks, with some steamy sex scenes to light your fire!  The detail their back story, along with the pain staking long time it took for these two crazy kids to have sex, (like about 80% into the book!) brought me to a new reality where built up sexual tension makes for one hell of a release!  Counterbalance is hands down one of the best contemporary romance novels I have read in a long time!

Narrator Review

Kory Getman.  What in the world could I say about Kory that would get you to buy this audiobook now?!  Kory's voice was a really good choice for Xavier.  He had that high pitch geeky, awkward social guy voice, but pulled off a suave and debonair tone when his alpha side came out.  I don't know how to explain it, but it was spot on what I imagined Xavier would sound like, lol.  Kory and Xavier grew into a man during this book, and the proof is in his voice by the end of the book.  I just can't find words, but the man sure had confidence in bed, oy!  Kory is definetly an up and coming narrator I plan to keep a close eye on ;)   5 Fangs Kory, well done.

Olento Research wants to control the world. The Lucidite Institute wants to save it.

Twelve men went missing.

Six months later they awake from drug-induced stupors to find themselves locked in a lab.

And on the night of a new moon, eleven of those men, possessed by new--and inhuman--powers, break out of their prison and race through the streets of Los Angeles until they disappear one by one into the night.

Now, it's Adelaide's job to find these mutated men and protect them and society, and fast. Already around the nation, wolf-like men are being spotted. Attacks on innocent women are happening. And then, Adelaide realizes what her next step must be: She has to find the alpha wolf first. Only once she's located him can she stop whoever is behind this experiment to create wild beasts out of human beings.

The Lucidites are large and in charge once more attempting a new feat to save the world!  The new threat now is a team of researchers that have created werewolves, and not the sexy shifter kind ;)  The person in charge of this level 5 investigation is none other than our beloved Adelaide, the infamous Ren Lewis's daughter.  With still trying to get a grip on her father's recent passing, Adelaide is forced to dig deep and swallow her grief in order to find the loose cannons that are ripping the citizens to shreds.  With help from an FBI agent, can Adelaide and the Lucidites stop the beasts before it's too late?  And further more, who the fuck created these fuckers, (as Adelaide would so eloquently put it, lol).

Alpha Wolf is the start of a new series, but with familiar characters from the authors previous works.  Incorporating Adelaide (from the Ren series) was bloody brilliant!  She is most definitely a character I love to love for her straight forward, no nonsense talk.  She is a tough cookie having inherited her fathers super duper powers and giving no shits what anyone thinks.  The Lucidites are back in action with this new series as well, guiding Adelaide every step of the way while she is chained with a partner not of her choosing.  Roxy, a dream traveler as well and FBI to boot, joins the team with a few tricks up her sleeve as well.  Together, the banter between the two ladies is comical to say the least.  My heart breaks for the emotional struggle Adelaide is going through right now with her father and now her own son frightened of her.  I couldn't help but wonder if she doesn't come to terms with recent events, what will become of her son!

The werewolves were a nasty twist to the story, and brings Adelaide up short because her Jedi mind tricks don't work on them and until she unlocks her other super powers she is just as helpless as the humans they prey on.  However, bringing Roxy into the picture balances that out, and creates a friend/enemy for Adelaide, and also some entertaining moments for us the readers/listeners.  I was glued from beginning to end, and I can't wait to get started on the next book, Lone Wolf.

Narrator Review

Elizabeth Klett entertains us with this new and exciting adventure!  I have had previous experience with this narrator from the Lucidites Series, and I absolutely enjoy the shit out of her!  Her tone, her timing and her accents bring life to an already riveting story.  The only thing I have left to say is please don't ever leave us Elizabeth, I would just die without you!  You scored a 5 Fang Rating from this listener!

Professional psychic and FBI consultant Abby Cooper has used her inner visions to get her out of many a scrape—and solve many a crime—but she’s about to face a murder scene that will put all her powers to the test. Abby’s husband Dutch has a side business providing security and building panic rooms for wealthy clients. One morning, one of Dutch’s partners, Dave, goes missing on his way to meet a client. Abby’s intuition tells her something terrible has happened to him.

Then two of Dutch’s clients are found brutally murdered...inside their brand new panic room, and most of the evidence points to Dave as the killer.  With the authorities racing to find and arrest him, Abby's got to use all her intuitive prowess to get to Dave first, discover the real killer, and save her husband's business. This is one case where Abby is positive there’s far more to this mystery than meets her inner eye…

In the latest installment of the Abby Cooper series, Abby's handyman and dear friend Dave finds himself in a pickle, we learn his wife's actual name, and the Scooby gangs future all get tossed upside down and turned inside out as they work on the most emotional and intense investigation to date!  Will this be the end of the road for the trio of besties, or will they get their happily ever after?  Lets find out!

The story takes us back to Dutch's side business involving his security company that more recently included Bryce and Dave.  The company provides safe rooms for the rich and filthy rich.  While on the job, Dave goes missing.  When Abby receives a call from his beloved wife, (and no, I'm not spoiling that for you!) that Dave has not returned home all night, Abby gets a bad juju vibes from the ether.  Abby takes immediate action and starts the phone tree to Dutch and the gang.  While investigating his disappearance, Abby and Candace stumble upon a doozy of a story to follow that leads to very bad things.  All the while Dave's "old lady" is hanging on by a thread, terrified that something horrible has happened to him and she will possibly never see him again.

I found the story began very intriguing, but as time went by, I was very confused as to why in this particular case Abby was unable to get a grip on any info from the ether about Dave.  It was very frustrating at times, however, I later come to the conclusion that the reason may have been because she is so emotionally tied to Dave and therefore that clouded her insight.  With the murder case that tied Dave to the crime, the APD became involved complicating Abby and friends search for their friend.  The story line had a similar ring to an earlier story where Candace was "wanted" for a crime back in Las Vegas, and in turn left me feeling like the series was repeating earlier stories now.  I did enjoy the plot and the possibilities for the gang's future this book opened up, and I hope that this is why Dave had to suffer the similar story line Candace had in an earlier book.  The true depths of Dutch and Abby's love for one another, which were brought forth once again, gave me goose bumps, and also reminded me of why I love this couple so much.  They truly are soul mates in every sense of the word, and it brings me so much joy to see Abby experience true happiness after growing up in a family that was not so loving.

So in closing for all the Abby Cooper fans out there, I don't think you will be disappointed with Panicked Premonition, but you may feel a sense of dejavue.  I will without a doubt continue to anxiously await the next adventure that Abby and friends will have!
