BOOK REVIEW: HOW THE GHOST WAS WON

Patrol Log:  6402242017

Rated it

From orphan to saloon girl to ghost whisperer, Hattie Hart has been and seen a lot of things in her time. Her new job as a detective with the Tremayne Psychic Specters Investigations Agency takes her out to the remote town of Carolina City, Nevada, on a vague assignment to investigate the disappearance of a US Marshal.

Hattie Hart is a psychic detective for the Tremayne Psychic Specters Investigations Agency straight out of St. Louis, MO. Her mission is to find out whatever she can about a missing US Marshall in Carolina City, NV. When she arrives at said location, she ends up spending weeks (instead of days) there wrapped up in the most curious of mysteries ever! All alone, and getting a little worried she's going to end up coming back empty handed for the boss, the silver mine folk drag her into an unbelievable scenario.

Right off the bat, SCORE! I love psychics, and ghost stories, and psychics that investigate ghosts, the whole thing is right up my alley. Hattie's story takes place in the late 1800's, the wild west baby! She has a shady past about her, but she's a cool as fuck character, and I immediately liked her. She heads on her investigation alone, which I thought was weird considering the time, but she gives no fucks what people think and gets her shit done. Shortly after arriving in Carolina City she meets the yummy Marshall Grant Madsen. Grant takes her to a grumpy old hag that runs a boarding house, and viola! The story has got me in it's grasp.

This book is really short at 104 pages, but it packs a damn good punch! I thoroughly enjoyed the book from cover to cover, and am so thankful that I was introduced to this author through Carolina Book Fest 2016, or I would have maybe never met her. I would highly recommend this book to any of my ghost detective, psychic loving supporters out there.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: ELEVENTH GRAVE IN MOONLIGHT

Patrol Log:  6102152017

Audiobook Review On Eleventh Grave In Moonlight, (Charley Davidson #11)

By Darynda Jones & Narrated by Lorelei King

 Rated it

A typical day in the life of Charley Davidson involves cheating husbands, missing people, errant wives, philandering business owners, and oh yeah...demons, hell hounds, evil gods, and dead people. Lots and lots of dead people. As a part time Private Investigator and full-time Grim Reaper, Charley has to balance the good, the bad, the undead, and those who want her dead. In this eleventh installment, Charley is learning to make peace with the fact that she is a goddess with all kinds of power and that her own daughter has been born to save the world from total destruction. But the forces of hell are determined to see Charley banished forever to the darkest corners of another dimension. With the son of Satan himself as her husband and world-rocking lover, maybe Charley can find a way to have her happily ever after after all.

Charley Davidson Private Investigator and The Grim Reaper have a big pill to swallow and digest. She has just learned her Godly status, her daughters destiny, and still can't figure out how to get from A to B with her superpowers....amateurs! With an unruly God on the loose, and BEP in constant danger, when will Charley find the time to train with her uber gorgeous husband Reyes?!

Charley's outlook on her existence is taking her some time to digest. Her perception on life was much simpler before Reyes, but at the same time not really. See Charley knew she was a grim reaper before Reyes, but she didn't know all the how to's of it, and never knew the why. Doing her job with the blind spot was more difficult for her, or should I say challenging, but it made her cases interesting to say the least! Now that she has married Reyes, had a child with him, and unlocked most of the secrets to her existence, she now has the challenge of staying true to what she believes.

While Charley is trying to figure out how to trap the evil god on the loose, she is investigating the people that adopted Reyes, and then abandoned him to the bastard that tortured him throughout his whole childhood upon their son's request. This does not make Reyes happy, and he is constantly badgering Charley to drop the case. Uncle Bob is being extremely distant from his new wife Cookie, giving her the impression he is cheating on her, and Osh is still recovering from taking on Charley's soul so the god she was hunting didn't see her damn light coming. BEP is still in hiding with a loving couple that is raising her, and being her BEP self. The whole gang is here but Gemma. Where the hell is Gemma? Oh well....Everyone has a part in helping Charley, Reyes and BEP and the closer they get to defeating the riff raff that want to open all the portals to various hell dimensions, the more intense and dangerous everything gets for the entire gang. With each new layer that unfolds, I fall deeper and deeper in love with Charley's journey. The ending has a cliffhanger, but then again so do all Darynda's books in this series. Look out readers things are getting dicey!

Narrator Review

Lorelei King is the lovely narrator for Eleventh Grave and doing a bang up job! She never ceases to amaze me with her fabulous talent. Lorelei brings Charley to life for me, and I thank you for the memories.

BLOG TOUR: HUNTER

Patrol Log:  6002132017

Mallory
I spent years running from my past. Then, when my past comes knocking in the form of dark, delicious sin, I find myself caught up in a man I shouldn’t. My son's uncle. A dangerous biker. Not to mention, an overbearing Alpha male.
Hunter is everything I need to escape from, yet I find myself wanting to stay. I know I shouldn't let myself or my son care for him, but I can't help wondering if maybe he's the one who can finally save me from my past.
Hunter
The plan was simple. Find my nephew, bring him home, and raise him in the Black Angels like my brother would have wanted. But things never go as planned, like my nephew’s mother. My brother’s one-night stand.
Mallory is spicy and sweet; one second she is mouthing off to me, and the next, she is moaning my name. The longer I’m with her, the harder she is to ignore. But she is hiding something while desperate to escape me, though I have her in my grasp. I will find out what she is hiding, and when I do, she will have nowhere left to run.

Writing books had been a big part of my life for many years; whether it was writing in secret notebooks during class, writing amateur novels or posting stories online, I surrounded myself with it.
Of course, it has its up and downs, but I've never once thought that writing wasn't for me.
Because of that, I can share the worlds I discover in my head with the outside world, and although that might sound crazy to some, it's fine by me. So long as I can do what I love, I'm happy.
And every person who's happy as a result of my writing is a bonus for which, I'm forever grateful for.
