Darynda Jones revisits the sexy, suspenseful world of supernatural shenanigans she created in her Grave series with For I Have Sinned. In this Charley Davidson story, Charley helps a woman find out how she died and gives her the closure she needs to pass through to the other side.

For I have Sinned is a short tale of one spirit that needs Charley's help. It is a very quick read that takes place after First Graveon the Right and before Second Grave on the Left. We are seeing Charley through the point of view a recently departed young lady. This new view of Charley and Reyes is a real eye opener for me as a reader because all the books in the series are from Charley's point of view. I love the descriptive narration, and also how we experience the confusion that spirits really go through and how they see us.

Jo Ann Montgomery has recently passed, and she finds herself drawn to a beautiful light that emanates from one Charley Davidson, a grim reaper. Jo doesn't know what Charley is, but feels like she can be the source of knowledge for her. Most of the time Charley comes across nonchalant about spirits that appear to her, but she does really care and knows just the right thing to say to them. As she helps Jo piece together what has happened to her they uncover such a sad truth, but a truth that brings us closer to the real Charley. This was a sad and bitter sweet story, but one that will surely give you a better appreciation for the grim reaper we know as Charley Davidson.
